A very soggy day for this years Cowling Gala saw 34 brave juniors and 26 hardy seniors on the starting line. The juniors bore the worst of the weather running during one of the heavy downpours whilst the rain eased slightly and allowed the seniors to run through one of the few dry spells.
It was an U17 Alex Thompson of Wharfedale who won this years senior/U17 race in a time of 20.48, holding off previous winner Ian Willis of Keighley and Craven who this year had to settle for 2nd place. First lady back was Pippa Barret in a time of 26.01.
In the junior races Amelie Lane of Wharfedale Harriers had an outstanding run to be first U14 overall and set a new girls U14 record of 10.51.
