Starting from “The Barrier” at the bottom of track to White Wells in Ilkley, the aim is to touch the gate by Dick Hudsons Pub on the opposite side of the Moor and then return
Starting from “The Barrier” at the bottom of track to White Wells, competitors can choose any route they like to reach the gate by Dick Hudsons. Either follow the main paved path and up the rocky steps, or head straight up the bracken covered hillside. Once up on the moor, there is an obvious choice by way of the Dales Way Link Path which passes by the Twelve Apostles stone circle, at the summit of the moor, then down to the gate at Dick Hudsons. Then turn around and head back over the top. On reaching White Wells; head back down the good track, which serves it, until meeting the finish line by the barrier. The map shows a suggested route, but runners are free to choose their own from the multiple paths that exist, especially at the start and finish.
