AM under FRA rules. 660m (2,165ft) of climbing over a distance of 13.3km (8.3 miles)
This was a new route, and perhaps due to the changes most us of managed to go the wrong way and add on an extra half mile! Still, I looked on the bright side and just thought of extra mileage in the bag (and on Stava…!)
The race starts at Todmorden Cricket Club and is a varied course of muddy track, tussocky hill top and boggy woodland. Apart from the extra distance we ran to one of the checkpoints, it was a well-organised and very scenic race. The facilities were also great and I’d definitely recommend this fixture in our club champs calendar!
A field of 176 took part, and Wharfedale took home the ladies team prize!
Results:
Andrew Worster (Todmorden) 1.07.11
72. Judy Howells (Wharfedale) 1.30.22
79. Jean Powell (Wharfedale) 1.31.45
85. Monica Padilla (Wharfedale) 1.32.24
89. Tony Shepherd (Wharfedale) 1.34.57
As Judy wisely says: ‘Never underestimate the Jean tornado, Fell races always finish with a descent!’
Also thanks to David for appearing at several points to support!
