National XC 2017

Six of our runners competed in the premier cross country even of the year for English runners, the Saucony English Cross Country Championships.

First up were the U15 boys with Logan and William competing, however with both either recovering from illness or injury it was more about taking part and competing, than where they would finish.  In the end Logan finished 181 and William 212 out of 379.

Next up for us were the U13 boys where we had two possible contenders, Alex Thompson and Sam Smith both vying for top slots.  Alex got off to a really good start and was joint leader for most of the first lap, neck and neck with the eventual winner Jaden Kennedy of Herne Hill.  However on the second lap he was overtaken by Fraser Sproul to drop into third place before then suffering a stitch in the closing stage to finish 13th.  Meanwhile Sam who was not far behind and had been in the chasing pack all the way, finished brilliantly to take 6th place out of 458.

The final race for us saw our two ladies Sophie Martin and Lynda Hargreaves  both battle round on an extremely challenging course.  Sophie Martin finished 179th and Lynda 745th out of 788.
