Around 700 finished this year’s race, in reasonably mild dry conditions. Perfect for me, but I think a bit warm for some!
The race was won by HBT’s Murray Strain in 2.49, after Tom Owens went wrong off the bottom of Whernside but fought back for second place, and Vic Wilkinson smashed the ladies record in an incredible 3.09!
There was a good turnout of Wharfedale harriers, with Mark McGoldrick home first for the men in 3.17 despite fighting off a cold.
Just two Wharfee ladies entered, with Emma Dodd recovering from a tough first half to get a brilliant new PB of dead on 4.30, and me surpassing my own expectations, finishing in 4.09.
