Hearty congratulations to David and Eileen Woodhead who have been awarded the British Empire Medal in the recent Queen’s Birthday Honours for services to Fell Running. Thoroughly deserved! Their dedication and enthusiasm to fell running, and athletics generally, is incredible. From organising some of the finest races in the calendar and popping up at almost every local and regional fell racing event in the capacity as photographers, all done for the love of the sport, David and Eileen have been and continue to provide invaluable support in promoting fell running and sport in general. Their commitment to supporting Yorkshire athletics, juniors in particular, is to be especially applauded. Their ‘Yorkshire corner’ has championed the spirit of camaraderie and competitive running and has contributed significantly to increased numbers of Yorkshire athletes being selected for fell running and mountain running events at both national and international level.
