Skiddaw Mountain Race. Great run for the lads!

Thanks for the following report from Emma –

Skiddaw Mountain Race, 7th July 2013.

106 runners braved this out and back race, which starts from Fitz Park, Keswick and follows the tourist path round Latrigg and up to the summit of Skiddaw. At 931m (3,054ft), the climb was tough going, although the breeze on the top gave runners some short rest bite before turning at the trig and heading back down the rocky descent. The blistering heat didn’t let up which made the descent harder than expected, especially with a combination of sweat and sun cream running into your eyes!

Craig Roberts of Kendal AC won the race in a time of 1.11.45, closely followed by Carl Bell of Keswick AC and Douglas Tullie (unattached). Sam Watson led the Wharfees home in 6th place followed by Mark McGoldrick in 8th. Great running Lads!

First Lady back was Charlotte Morgan of Carnethy in 1.24.29 and 15th place overall, followed by Fiona Hughes of Cambridge University and Scout Adkin of Moorfoot Runners. Wharfee ladies Emma Dodd and Caroline Pollard finished 10th and 13th Ladies respectively.
