Silsden New Year’s Day race

The Silsden New Year’s Resolution race will take place on Wednesday January 1st. With reference to the much publicised Tour de France passing through the village this year competitors are invited to compete in their cycling gear be it a tweed suit and cycle clips or lycra!

Proceeds once more will be split between Silsden AFC and Bramley Buffaloes RLCC a small token to support grass roots sport for all ages.

After gathering at The Green on Bradley Road, the route, as ever, starts with a gruelling climb of 500 feet up Bradley Road,  including Heartbreak Hill by the White Farm on Hole Lane. This is followed by a cruise along Heights Lane before it all starts going downhill on Horn Lane and Bradley Road.

With an 11.15 a.m. start entries on the day at £2.50 are available from the start at 10.30 a.m.

As ever,  each runner will receive a timed certificate and, donations permitting, a surprise from Santa’s sack.

Competitors traditionally have donated small wrapped surprises, an ideal chance to “re-gift”!!

As the course records would seem unbreakable, this year there will be 2 prizes distributed at the prize giving in the Sunny Bank Social club, with criteria to be revealed then!

Competitors of all ages and abilities are welcome at this family friendly event.
