Some great results for Whafedale Harriers in the Northern Cross Country Championships yesterday. In the U13 boys race William Thompson and Logan Hargreaves-Madhas had good strong runs to finish 68th and 101st places respectively. In the Junior Mens race (U20) James Hall in his first year in this age group had a great run to finish 9th, following on from his recent victories in the Yorkshires and the British Cross Challenge in Cardiff.
In the Senior ladies race Wharfedale were lead home by Emma Hopkinson, closely followed by Looie, Clare and Gill to finish a fantastic 5th place in the team competition, which was won by Holmfirth, with Leeds 2nd and Jarrow and Hebburn 3rd. The girls were also back up by good runs from Katherine Kirkham and Lynda Hargreaves. The race was won by Holmfirth’s Katie Walshaw.
In the Senior mens race first Wharfedaler back was Sam Watson. The team finished in a good 12th place with Sam, Nick, Christian, Jonny, Dave K and Dave McGuire counting for the team. The men were also backed up by good runs from Paul Crabby Crabtree, Jason Hemsley and Raj Madhas. Leeds City won the team competition followed by Morpeth Harriers and Salford.
