A great win for Sam Smith in the U12 race, up the steep slopes of Yarlside. After a close battle on the way up, between Sam, Alex Thompson and Harry Bowen of Ambleside, Sam took the lead just before the turn and then held of Harry Bowen to take first place, with Alex settling for third place. Whilst in the U17’s Thomas Nelson also came third. Meanwhile the Seniors then climbed the adjacent hill of Great Dummacks, which while advertised as 4m turned out to be much shorter, and therefore steeper than expected. The sun did attempt to shine, so conditions for the seniors were not too unpleasant, along with a few patches of remaining snow on the higher slopes.
