Gathering Winter Fools fun!

On Saturday Wharfedale entered 4 teams out of the 39 teams entered in this fun, christmas local club event! The overall results are here: http://kcac.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/13_GWF.html

The ‘Wharfedale Christmas Angels’ A Team were 1st ladies team for the second year in a row heading off the challenge from Bingley Babes by just over 4 minutes with great runs (and fancy dress) from Clare Pearson and Emma Hopkinson (welcome back!) on leg 1, Gill Myers and Louisa Pickles on leg 2, Emma Dodd and Jean Powell on leg 3 and Katherine Kirkham and Angela Donlan on leg 4. Overall the team was more than 20 minutes faster than last year finishing in 4.18.14.

The ‘Wharfedale Christmas Angels’ B team also did really well finishing 5th ladies team with more fab fancy dress and even better runs from Catherine Hill and Becki Throup on leg 1, Fiona Greening and Caroline Pollard on leg 2, Anne Handley and Tamara Hemsley on leg 3 and Bridget (I owe you one!) Thompson and Dawn Denton on leg 4 in a great overal time of 5.01.31.

Now to the most important event  – the battle between the Wharfedale young men v Wharfedale old(er) men! After an exciting battle (and a few wrong turns!) – the young men edged it by just over 3 minutes when the young men passed the old (er) men on leg 4!  Earlier the old(er) men had an approximate 10 minute lead on the younger men after leg 2 when the younger mens route choice turned out to be the wrong choice (I’m not naming any names but we are related..!). The young men eventually finished 4th in 4.42.22 and the old(er) men 5th in 4.45.49.

The young mens team were Dave Kirkham and Jonny Bradshaw on leg 1, Gareth Hird and Steven Brock on leg 2, Sam Watson and James Hall on leg 3, Paul Carman and Harry Muir on leg 4. The old(er) mens team were Jason Hemsley and Paul Crabby (excellent elf costume) on leg 1, Nick Charlesworth and Christian Holmes on leg 2, Paul Hindle and Tom Hollins on leg 3, Mick Bray and Chris Jones on leg 4.

A great day was had by all!
