Great Whernside Spring Edition – Race Day Instructions

Car parking is in the village, just on the right as you come over the bridge and will be £3 for the day. Please bring correct change as this will speed up the process.
Should this car park fill up, we have a backup plan which is to the left, just before the bridge, so if you are arriving for the later races, please look out in case the first option is full.

It’s about a 15 minute walk from the car park to registration which should be open from 9.30am so please allow plenty of time to walk from the car park to the start.  The route should be marked.

There are some public toilets near the car park in the village and we will also have some at the start/registration.

Its going to be very busy at registration as we now have over 300 entries for junior races.  Please be patient.  Once you have your number, please move away from the registration area.

For those who have pre-registered online you do not need to fill in a form, simply join the appropriate queue to collect your number and pay for your entry.  Juniors, U9 to U19 are £2, seniors £5.  Please bring correct change.  Registration will be organised by age groups.

If you haven’t pre-registered you will need to fill in a form, and then join the Entry-On-Day queue.

Once you have collected your number, if you decide not to run, you must come back and inform us so we can amend our numbers.

These are the planned start times for each race.  We will not start the races before these times, but you must have collected your number at least 10 minutes before these times.

U9 – 11.00 am

U11 – 11.10 am

U13 – 11.25 am

U15 – 11.50 am

U17 – 12.20 pm

U19 /Seniors – 1.00 pm

Dogs

We would request that you don’t bring any dogs as there are sheep grazing in the fields. If you do bring a dog it must be kept strictly on a lead at all times.

Kit

Don’t forget to bring kit with you as listed on the website. Even though hopefully there is no rain, the upper fell is quite exposed and catches the wind so kit may be required for at least some of the races.

Prizegiving

Subject to timings we will try and do presentations for the U9, U11 and U13 races at 12.20 pm after  the U17’s  have set off,  and then U15 and U17’s at 1pm when the U19/Seniors have set off.

Presentation for U19/seniors and the Inter County medals will be after the U19/senior race

Refreshments

Teas, coffees and cakes will be on sale near registration throughout the day, all proceeds to raise money for UnseenUnseen is a charity committed to working towards a world without slavery. This fund raising is part of a fundraiser by one of our former juniors, Emily Jones, to raise money for Unseen through a trek in the Balkans this September.  Cash only.
