Low cloud and a stiff westerly breeze made for a challenging climb up to the trig on Great Whernside. It was a day for youthful legs though as both male and female winners were under 21’s. Mens winner was Sam Bentham of Ilkley Harriers in a time of 33.23 who just clung onto the lead after Ted Mason closed the gap to finish just 3 seconds behind. Ladies winner was Amelie Lane of Wharfedale Harriers in a time of 36.58 with a much more comfortable time over the next lady Lex Whitaker, now of Ambleside AC.
