It was a blustery start for the first race in the FRA English Championships at Fairfield Horseshoe on Saturday. The race was won by Rob Hope running for Pudsey and Bramley in 1.19.18 and the ladies winner was Bingley’s Victoria Wilkinson in 1.27.15 in 33rd place overall! The first Wharfedaler home was Sam Watson in a great 15th place in 1.23.21. First Wharfedale lady home was last years LV50 FRA English Championships bronze medallist Gill Myers in 1.46.21 in 18th ladies place and 3rd LV50 place. The provisional ladies team results are that Wharfedale finished 4th on the day with 67 points (counters Gill, Looie and Rachel), behind Calder (18), Ambleside (36) and Dark Peak (52), Wharfedale ladies were also 3rd LV40 team with 46 points (counters Gill, Rachel and Jean) behind Calder (19) and Dark Peak (20). Wharfedale men were 7th team (counters Sam, Nick, Dave, Paul Crabby and Paul Carman) – Mens provisional team results – Dark Peak (60), Borrowdale (74), Calder (134), Ambleside (171), P&B (185), Keswick (245), Wharfedale (282).
