Austwick Amble – Wharfedale champs race

Report from Paul Wilson  – A good turnout for the Austwick Amble over a slightly revised route cutting out some road. The street festival was busy when the runners arrived but virtually empty when we got back. Light rain started when the seniors did and had turned to heavy rain about half way round. The course is very varied with a fair amount of flattish running on the flanks of ingleborough. Unfortunately Pippa from Keighley and Craven twisted her ankle badly and had to be carried off by mountain rescue. Badly sprained but not broken was the outcome. In the seniors Wharfedale had some good men’s placings behind Lee Athersmith with Ted Mason third and Nick Charlesworth in fourth. Behind them the rest of us battled the elements but everyone enjoying themselves. In the under 12s Jack Muir came second. In the under 16s Harry Muir won with Ellie Lambert 5th overall and first girl a massive two minutes ahead of the next girl.
