2 Miles 1558ft : AS ( 3.1k 460m )
A set of Uphill only races from Scabbate Gate, Kettlewell. Varying distances along the main path up to the cairn on Great Whernside
Incorporating FRA Junior championship and Junior Uphill Championship
All races start in the field at the bottom of the fell where Scabbate Gate lane crosses Dowber Gill Beck. The initial ascent is on grass following track and path through the fields uphill to the cottage at Hag Dyke. Thence through the gate to the fell and the terrain changes dramatically. First a rocky scramble over rough ground, followed by a short stretch of peat and bog with then a final steep ascent over rocky ground to the cairn.
Maps:
Please note the junior start time published in the 2017 FRA handbook was incorrect. Please ensure all your runners know that races start at 12 noon.
Registration from 11am
Registration will be in the start field which is about 800m from the car park, so allow 10-15 minutes or so to walk. Registration for each race will close 10 minutes before the start times shown below.
Parking
We have secured a field in the village for parking or there is also a Village car park, but it will be more expensive than the field. As you come into the village, over the first bridge, the Village car park is on your left. Go past the entrance for this and turn right opposite the public toilets, the entrance to the parking field is then immediately on your right between some houses.
Parking will be available from 10am, cost will be £2 per car.
